With a gift for saying the quiet parts loud, Ink & Offense tackles subjects most authors politely sidestep — like explaining to a child why their parent is in jail, or explaining to a young adult why nobody taught them how to do laundry before setting them loose on society. The Why Are You In Jail? series was born from the belief that hard conversations don't have to be handled badly — and that kids deserve honest, warm, and slightly cheeky books that meet them where they are. Meanwhile, Adulting 101: Practical Tips exists because apparently surviving childhood is just the audition for a much more confusing show. Ink & Offense writes for the kids who ask too many questions, the adults who still don't have the answers, and everyone in between who appreciates a truth delivered with a wink. No feelings were spared in the making of these books. Several were, however, greatly improved by the process.
